Stage Reading Workshop & Matinee Film for Local Senior Citizens

Landmark Community Theatre is offering two programs in conjunction with the Thomaston and Plymouth Recreation Departments

Landmark Community Theatre is offering two programs in conjunction with the Thomaston and Plymouth Recreation Departments as part of an Arts grant from the Northwest Arts Council.

The Stage Reading Workshop Beginning April 29, 2024 at 10 AM offers opportunities for area senior citizens to explore, rehearse, and perform a full-length theatrical script.  There will be 3 weekly workshop sessions with the fourth week culminating in a public performance in the form of a stage reading.   The play will be selected based on the number of people who sign up.

A League of Their Own will be shown on May 10, 2024 at 2:00 PM.  The film is a 1992 American sports comedy-drama directed by Penny Marshall that tells a fictionalized account of the real-life All-American Girls Professional Baseball League (AAGPBL). It stars Tom Hanks, Geena Davis, Madonna, Lori Petty, Rosie O’Donnell, Jon Lovitz, David Strathaim, Gary Marshall and Bill Pullman.  It was written by Lowell Ganz and Barbalo Mandel and from a story by Kelly Candaele and Kim Wilson.  Admission is free with general seating.

Of local interest, the film also features Barbara Erwin as Older Shirley.  Barbara was an actress of both stage and screen with her most notable role as Lily St. Regis in the 1977 Broadway production of Annie.  Barbara resided and raised her children in Thomaston until her passing in April of 2001.

For more information or to register for the workshop contact the Thomaston or Plymouth Recreation Departments.  Interested persons may also go to www.landmarkcommunitytheatre.org or call the box office at 860-283-6250.
